1st Vienna Symposium on Machine Learning in Medicine & Biology

The „1st Vienna Symposium on Machine Learning in Biology & Medicine“ is designed as a community gathering and a networking opportunity for machine learning researchers from all of Austria – following the success of similar meetings in the areas of next generation sequencing („Vienna NGS Symposium“) and chemical biology („Austrodrugs“) organized at CeMM. The scientific focus will be on new machine learning methods and relevant applications of machine learning and artificial intelligence in biology and medicine.

At the core of this event will be a series of short presentations by researchers from Austria working in the wider field (please see attachment), with ample opportunities for interactions, discussion, and networking. Furthermore, we are happy to announce a keynote lecture by Thomas Lengauer, who will present his groundbreaking research on using machine learning for the improvement of HIV therapy, as a striking early example of machine learning having a very real and positive impact for patients in Europe.

The event is free to attend (thanks to the support of CeMM, MedUni Vienna, and the Austrian Platform for Personalized Medicine) and open to all: developers and users of machine learning methods, researchers in biology and medicine, students, postdocs, professors, physicians, and anyone else interested in this emerging field. All attendees must register via the following URL, such that we can realistically plan the event and prepare name tags for everybody to facilitate informal discussions: https://cemm.at/machine-learning.
